Porcelain Veneers for a Spectacular Smile

Friday, January, 1, 2021

While there are many cosmetic dentistry options one of the most popular is porcelain veneers.  Porcelain veneers are a favorite of the stars and sure to make you smile.

What are Porcelain Veneers?

According to Dr. Angela Cameron from Sophisticated-Smiles, porcelain veneers are made from thin sheets of dental grade porcelain. Depending on your smile, you can choose to have one, two, three, or an entire set of veneers.

Unlike a crown that caps the tooth, porcelain veneers cover the sides and front of the tooth. This changes the length, size, shape, and color. Patients opting for a full set of dental veneers can change the entire color of their smile.

How are Porcelain Veneers Placed?

If you and your Johnson City cosmetic dentist determine that veneers are perfect for you, a mold is made of your teeth. Dr. Cameron and the team from Sophisticated-Smiles will also take digital pictures and x-rays.

During your first veneer appointment, a portion of the enamel on your tooth or teeth is removed. This makes for a natural looking fit. While the veneers will not require as much tooth removal as a cosmetic crown, you will still need temporaries while your new veneers are custom made.

When your new restorations are complete, they will be checked for fit and color. Once Dr. Cameron is satisfied they are placed after your temporary dental veneers are removed.

Are Dental Veneers Permanent?

Because a portion of your tooth is removed for a natural fit, veneers are permanent. If you should ever want them removed, they will need to be replaced with another set of veneers or cosmetic dental crowns. If you are not sure about such a permanent procedure, talk to Sophisticated-Smiles about cosmetic dental bonding for a less permanent solution.

Do Veneers Look Natural?

Because Dr. Cameron is an experienced cosmetic dentist and also a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, you will not have to worry about your teeth looking too white or too big.

Your new veneers from Sophisticated-Smiles will match your smile and your personality without making you look like a cartoon character.

Are Porcelain Veneers Strong?

Veneers are stronger than teeth that have been bonded but still need to be looked after. Never chew on ice or put pencils or pens in your mouth as you risk breaking or popping off your porcelain veneer or veneers.
